London Open Gardens

London Open Gardens

Last weekend I photographed some beautiful green spaces at the London Open Gardens 2023. One of my personal highlights was wandering around in the garden where Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant went in the film “Notting Hill”. I loved that film as a teenager and if you have seen it, you probably know that there are properties in London that come with a key to a garden that is shared with the immediate neighbours. And in the film “Notting Hill”, Hugh Grant takes Julia Roberts to one of these private gardens. And this scene was in fact filmed in Rosemead Garden a “real” private garden in Notting Hill. During the London Open Garden weekend, this and other private gardens were accessible to the public.

Every garden I`ve seen was truly amazing in its own special way. There was the Eversheds Sutherland Vegetable Garden, an award-winning roof garden with – can you believe it? – bee hives. Nic`s Secret Garden and Plant Rescue Nursery is a true inspiration for Londoners with tiny outdoor spaces who want to enjoy some gardening. Chester Square Garden and Eaten Square Garden: you can just dream up the hours spent reading on its benches by the residents who have lived in the neighbourhood – for example Frankenstein author Mary Shelley. In the Royal Crescent Gardens, I saw a tree in bloom with the prettiest green flowers. And Pembride Square Garden provided the perfect shelter during a few minutes of rain: a bench under huge tree branches. Leinster Square Gardens was nicely decorated with buntings and Sunday picnic friends had flocked to St. James Gardens. Cleveland Square could have been the stage for just another Hollywood hit – it was so pretty you thought you had just entered a film scene yourself.

Storytelling

Walking in the Rosmead Garden was magical. All the gardens were lovely and beautiful as you can see in the images, but the Julia Roberts Garden was a special experience. That`s what storytelling does. Because of a story something can become extraordinary and remarkable. This is why businesses and especially professional creatives need to tell stories with their imagery and visuals. The story is what creates a connection. And stories make our everyday lives more beautiful.

The gardens pictured are Royal Crescent Gardens, St. James Gardens, Rosmead Garden, Pembridge Square, Leinster Square Gardens, Eversheds Sutherland Vegetable Garden, Chester Square Garden, Eaton Square Garden, Cleveland Square, Nic`s Secret Garden and Plant Rescue Nursery. London Open Gardens

Geschichten verbinden. Und sie machen unseren Alltag schöner.
